ROBERT D. MEHRBERG, M.D.
Robert D. Mehrberg, M.D. is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans, from which he received both his bachelors degree in biology and his medical degree. While at Tulane, he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and the recipient of the Dean's Honor Scholarship.
Following medical school, he served his internship at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, where he also performed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, ultimately becoming Chief Resident.
Dr. Mehrberg, following his training, became a member of the faculty at Eastern Virginia Medical School where he served as medical director for several Norfolk-area rehabilitation and advanced care facilities treating numerous conditions including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and musculoskeletal injuries. He was also Director of Electrodiagnostic Medicine for the department.
He eventually was named residency program director in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Eastern Virginia Medical School in charge of instructing medical residents on all aspects of physical medicine and rehabilitation. For his efforts, he was selected Academic Teacher of the Year for his department.
A Board Certified Physiatrist, he is certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Dr. Mehrberg is a member of the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and the Association of Academic Physiatrists.
Throughout his medical career, Dr. Mehrberg has lectured, written or co-authored numerous articles, abstracts, presentations and publications concerned with the treatment and well being of rehabilitation patients.
