DONALD J. MOYER, Jr. M.D.
Donald J. Moyer, Jr., M.D., a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, received his medical degree from Chicago’s Northwestern University. He performed his general surgery internship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where he also did his residency in neurosurgery. Following his residency training, Dr. Moyer did his fellowship in Neuro-oncology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
While at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Moyer served as Assistant Instructor of Neurosurgery, later rising to Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery in the hospital’s Department of Neurosurgery. His research activities involved the investigation of gene expression in an ischemic brain. Dr. Moyer joined Southwest Florida Neurosurgical Associates in 1998.
Dr. Moyer is Board Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is a member of the Lee County Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Moyer is the author of numerous scientific research papers, abstracts and presentations dealing with a variety of neurosurgical treatments.
